Chef's Delight will be opening its doors on December 25 which, mother Shirley Fang says, also happens to be an auspicious day for grand openings in the Chinese lunar calendar.
"Twenty-five is a lucky day in the Chinese calendar, that's why we chose it," Mrs Fang said.
Father Johnny Zhou will be the chef, having worked for many years at the Golden Recipe restaurant on Edward Street.
Mr Zhou also picked up some cooking techniques in his hometown of Wuxi in the Jiangsu province, home to one of the "eight great traditions" of Chinese cuisine.
While working as a chef he dreamed of running his own restaurant, and now he will be able to exactly that alongside his wife and son.
"We're interested in cooking something good for Wagga people," Mr Zhou said.
"Wagga is a good place."
