A Riverina woman who allegedly accepted thousands of dollars in donations after claiming she had terminal bowel cancer has been charged by police.

NSW Police announced on Tuesday that the woman, aged in her 20s, had been charged with four fraud-related offences.
Police say an online fundraising page was established in January for the woman, who allegedly claimed she had just three months to live.
It is alleged she raised about $9000 from various fundraisers and community rallies, before allegedly claiming she had been cured.

In September, officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District commenced an investigation following reports of the woman allegedly engaging in suspicious activities.
Following inquiries, on Monday, December 21 the woman was charged with four counts of dishonestly obtain financial benefit by deception and issued a court attendance notice.
The accused is due to appear at Griffith Local Court on February 2.
