TUMUT trainer Kerry Weir does not make the three-hour trip to Corowa very often, but when he does it often pays to take notice.

Weir has had just 15 starters at Corowa over his 25-year training career and boasts a strike rate of 26 per cent with four winners and three minor placings.
Included in those four wins are two Corowa Cup triumphs, to Universal Pack and Sand Dune, so the track has been a happy hunting ground for Weir despite his lack of visits.
Weir will make the trip on Thursday with two runners, Cattledog Cod and Crocodile Cod, and believes both are genuine winning hopes.
"I'm very selective when I go," Weir said.
"I just want a little bit of rain. Any rain will help."
Weir is most keen on Crocodile Cod in the Origin Clothing Class One & Maiden Plate (1600m).
The four-year-old took 20 starts to break through and win his maiden at the end of last preparation. He has returned and had two runs, his latest a good second behind Phelan Thirsty on the Wagga Riverside track on December 7.
"I'm pretty confident with Crocodile Cod. His run the other day was awesome," Weir said.
"He was second up and a month between runs. He was balloted out of a race so he went from 1100 to 1600 with a month between runs. Brodie (Loy) thought if he had of got the 1400 run in, he wins. Fitness wise, he knocked up that little bit.
"He's come back a lot more mature. He used to be very head strong but he's matured and is a lot more relaxed."
Brodie Loy retains the ride on Crocodile Cod, who is drawn barrier two with 59kg.
John Kissick will be in the saddle when Cattledog Cod contests the Carlton United Breweries Benchmark 66 Handicap (1000m). The seven-year-old has 61.5kg and is drawn barrier four.
"The track won't worry me too much with Crocodile Cod but we need a little bit of give in it for Cattledog Cod," Weir said.
"The other day at Queanbeyan was rock hard and Simon (Miller) said he wouldn't stride out properly. I want a bit of give in it to help him stride out a bit."
Cattledog Cod only beat the one runner home in the Thunderbolt at Queanbeyan last start but was a winner at Wagga the start before that when first-up.
