Wagga Base Hospital's long-awaited $30 million new car park took the next step towards completion after lodging a development application with Wagga City Council earlier this week.
The cost of parking was the focus of party promises during the 2018 byelection, which many held little faith in being followed through.
But in a statement, the MLHD elaobrated, saying "the new multi-storey car park at Wagga Base Hospital will be open for visitors, patients, consumers and staff".
"The new car park will be free in line with current parking across the heath campus."
In other news:
The project includes a six-storey car park, as well as additional car parking on two separate sites on the health campus, more than doubling the current parking capacity to upwards of 900 spaces.
The contract for the multi storey car park project construction works is expected to be awarded in early 2021.
