As heat records broke in the Riverina, those brave enough to leave the creature comforts of home headed for the region's waterways and shopping centres to seek refuge from the baking temperatures.
The Daily Advertiser photographers ventured out to snap the community beat the heat at Wagga Beach on Saturday before the cooler change on Sunday drew families out to the Botanic Gardens.

With Saturday's official high temperature of 40.3 on Saturday, Wagga almost reached November record of 40.6 degrees, set on November 14 in 2004.
Meanwhile, the western parts of the region sweltered through and smashed records at Griffith, Narrandera and Yanco.
