The club announced that Suckling, Jackson Trengove and Callum Porter would not be offered new contracts for the 2021 season.
It brings to an end a five-year stint at the Bulldogs for Suckling and now leaves his AFL career at the crossroads
Western Bulldogs general manager of list and recruiting Sam Power said it was not an easy decision to make.
"These are difficult decisions to make, because we're dealing with quality individuals who cannot be questioned for their hard work and dedication," Power told the club's website.
"They represented the club with pride and gave their all, and we are grateful for their efforts.
"We wish them every success for whatever their futures hold, and they know they are always welcome back at the club."
Suckling, 32, has played 178 AFL games.
He won two premierships during his 102 games at Hawthorn, then spent the past five seasons at the Bulldogs.
Suckling was restricted to just seven AFL games this season as he battled hamstring injuries.
