South Wagga sent St Michaels in and had them reeling at 6-52, before some resilience from Nathan Corby (27), Chris Donaldson (34 not out) and Daniel Coates (27) in the lower middle order allowed them to post 8-154 off their 50 overs.
Alex Smeeth was the pick of South Wagga's bowlers with 2-13, his nine-over spell featuring five maidens, while youngster Noah Harper (six overs, 0-15) was solid in his first bowl in first grade.
South Wagga's run chase began shakily when they were reduced to 3-31, but Joel Robinson (41) and Nathan Butt (32) allowed them to reach the target with three wickets in hand.
"We've got some young guys who have done the work and been rewarded with a shot, and they're getting the job done," South Wagga captain Luke Gerhard said.
"I would have like to have dismissed them for about 120, but credit to them for getting to 150. Smeeth at the start bowled really well and young Noah Harper bowled well for his first bowl in first grade.
"We struggled at times (in the run chase), a lot of us got starts and couldn't go on with it, but another youngster in Nathan Butt stepped up for us and Joel got some runs.
"It's a pleasing thing when other can chip in when required. We've got some young guys coming in this year who have done the work and been rewarded with a shot, and they're getting the job done.
"We're happy to get the win, even though we've still got a lot to work on.
