Colts looked to be cruising to victory at Harris Park on Saturday at 5-149 chasing 174 before the Bulls stormed back into the contest.
Nathan Brookes (5-19) did most of the damage as he took 3-1 with his second spell to help the Bulls bring up their first win of the season.
Kooringal Colts finished 16 runs short after collapsing to be bowled out for 159 in the 47th over.
Captain Isaac Cooper was thrilled with the performance of Brookes to take the win.
"Brookesy showed he is still a class bowler," Cooper said.
"With his second spell he took 3-1 when the game was in the balance with Colts having five wickets in hand and about 30 needed and he came on and turned the game of its head for us.
"It was a big turnaround."
In the end a crucial 30-run partnership between brothers Rhauri and Jarrod MacLeod for the ninth wicket proved to be a big difference as well after a strong start from Sam Smith.
Smith made 48 at the top of the innings before Kooringal started to get on top with Jayden Beattie (3-30) and Keenan Hanigan (3-33).
However Rhauri MacLeod (43) proved invaluable in the middle of the innings.
"They turned the match for us," Cooper said.
"They put some runs on to give us enough to try and defend a total on a small Harris Park."
Colts recruit Hamish Starr also impressed with both bat and bowl, top scoring with 42 and also taking two wickets.
