Brett Woodhouse has come up with barrier one in the True Blue Series at Menangle on Saturday.
The Mountain has only missed the placings once in eight starts to date, winning five, but it is only the second time he's drawn inside barrier four.
Coming into the race after wins at West Wyalong and Albury, Woodhouse is hopeful he can utilise the draw.
"It's the best draw he's had so we've got the good draw at the right time," Woodhouse said.
"I've been happy with him.
"He couldn't measure up in the Breeders Challenge but I think he is well placed in this.
"He should be a chance."
Regardless of his performance, The Mountain is heading for a break rather than waiting for .
"I don't think we are as good as Rocknroll Runa and a few of the other horses getting around," Woodhouse said.
"I think it is going to be pretty strong so we'll go to this one and then put him in the paddock.
"Hopefully he comes back better next year."
Cameron Hart takes the drive.
The Mountain is not the only well-drawn Riverina horse chasing success.
David Kennedy has drawn barrier with Mammals Prince in the three-year-old colts and geldings feature while Ray Walker has drawn two with Roll A Dream in the three-year-old fillies.

A REMARKABLE effort saw Machs Legacy breakthrough for a win at Young on Tuesday.
After finishing runner-up in five of her eight races, Machs Legacy looked to have blown her chances of a second career win after galloping early.
However not only did she recover to get back into the race but went on to win it by 16.4 metres.

THE DECISION to remove Graeme White as Wagga chief executive has ruffled feathers.
Young trainer Josh Powderly is a regular sponsor of Wagga races through his electrical company but has been left disappointed by how the situation unfolded.
"I wouldn't imagine we will be sponsoring Wagga next year," Powderly said.
"I was disappointed in how it all unfolded.
"I thought Graeme did a good job, he had a good relationship with sponsors and trainers and always communicated very well.
"It is just disappointing to lose someone like that."
