It was a "dream come true" for mum Karen Jacobs, who has always dreamed of owning a family-friendly establishment.
She has spent the last ten years working at the RAAF base mess halls as a chef, and now she will be applying those skills in her own café kitchen.
"It's a lifelong dream. I've wanted to do it for a lot of years, the opportunity came up, and I said to my son, 'c'mon, let's do this'," Mrs Jacobs said.
Meanwhile her son Terrance Jacobs will be manning the front counter and helping his mum run the café.
Terrance said the two of them would have their work cut out for them filling the shoes of the previous owner Denise Flack, who had developed a fiercely loyal customer base over her 12 years at the helm.
"I've made so many friends over the years. We've had people that have been coming religiously every week since before I took over," Mrs Flack said.
Mrs Flack said it would be sad to wave goodbye to her loyal patrons, but said she needed to step down from the exhausting hospitality industry to take care of her health.
Mrs Flack said she was confident that her legacy would be in safe hands, with Karen and Terrance as the new owners.
"It was a wonderful cafe and we really enjoyed our time there but now it's time for us to go and I wish the Jacobs very well in their new venture and I hope everyone gets behind them and supports them like they did for us," she said.
