It was the second ace of Chant's career, this time on the 136-metre par three fourth at Coolamon.
His last was 25 years ago, also at Coolamon, on the 190m 11th hole.
"It's a long wait between good shots," Chant said with a laugh.
"It was about the only bright spot for my weekend. I had a terrible weekend (in the veterans championship). It was good to salvage something out of it."
The 70-year-old, who plays off seven in Coolamon, lost sight of his tee shot and was briefly unaware of the achievement.
"I thought it had come up short and no-one in our group saw it go in but a chap in the group ahead saw it roll in and started waving his arms around. I wondered what was going on," Chant said.
"I walked down and he yelled out, 'You holed out!" It was a big surprise."
Coolamon golf club's Mick O'Brien said it was a fitting climax to a big weekend at the club.
For his part, Chant was thrilled with the efforts of another Coolamon local, Graham Broadhead, who only just missed out on victory in the state championships.
"Another highlight of the weekend was our club captain beaten in a playoff for the overall title," Chant said.
"It was a good effort. And we dodged all the rain. It rained on Saturday afternoon after everyone had finished and Sunday was a beautiful day. It turned out well for us."
