Only three players from the side that thrashed Tumut in the Group Nine grand final last month are yet to commit to playing again.
Travelling pair Royce Tout and Aisea Taholo are yet to finalise their plans while after coming off the bench and kicking the final conversion of the game Damian Willis has retired.
New co-coach Luke Bekrey is pleased with the position the club finds themselves in.
"We've just about locked everyone else in," Berkrey said.
"The only two who haven't re-signed are Royce Tout and Ace (Taholo) but we are very, very hopeful.
"It will be nice to start with the same team who started in the grand final."
Troy Barby will also return after an ankle injury saw him miss the second half of the season.
Gundagai will celebrate their 100th year next season and the milestone could see a number of familiar faces return.
However Berkrey admitted they are not actively looking to bring in more talent.
"We won't be buying anyone, let's put it that way," he said.
Instead he's looking to back their depth after Gundagai's reserve grade secured back-to-back premierships and their Weissel Cup side fell one win short of a grand final appearance.
"It will be good not to bring anyone else in unless of course someone throws themselves at us," Berkrey said.
"You wouldn't believe how many people message me."
Gundagai only lost once all season, a two-point result to Tumut which saw them miss out on the minor premiership.
However they scored two finals wins over the Blues, who are expected to have a much bigger turnover of players.
The two arch rivals both celebrate their centenary next season.
Plans are in place to honour the occasion by having clashes between the two clubs as Maher Cup challenges, which also started in 1921.
