WHEN Alycia Cogdell and her younger brother Jaiden from NSW's Central Tablelands opened up packets of Ooshies after their mum had done the weekly shopping, they weren't too fazed.

But the next day when Alycia was talking about their new Ooshies with some younger children at the bus stop, she realised they had hit a bit of a jackpot.
Among their news Ooshies - small, plastic collectables being offered free to Woolworths shoppers with their groceries - was one an "ultra rare" furry Thor, which are selling for upwards of $1000 on eBay.
It was a stroke of luck that almost didn't happen.

"When [Woolworths first] offered them to us I said 'no', I thought they would all just end up as junk under the bed," mother Sharyn Cogdell said.
But the Bathurst children decided to collect them anyway and it looks like that decision may now pay off.
Alycia said when they found the furry Thor they didn't realise it was an ultra rare and thought nothing more of it. But the chat at the bus stop the next morning changed all that.
"I texted Jaiden right away asking do you know where it is," she said.
Alycia said he told her it was still "somewhere in mum's car" and she was relieved he hadn't unknowingly swapped it.
"When the little kids were talking about it I was on the phone to him straight away," she laughed.
"I thought he might take it to school to show it off."
There have been only 100 furry Thors released as part of the Woolworths promotion in Australia and each is numbered. The Cogdells' is number 86.
Alycia and Jaiden agreed to try their luck and selling the Ooshie on eBay and expect it to go for anywhere from $250 to $1000. A "super rare" Yoda recently sold for a cool $99,000 on eBay.
As for what they will do with any profits, Jaiden said he wasn't sure but Alicia had a clear idea.
"I'd like to donate the money to the Smith Foundation who help people who need an education and can't access one," she said.
