The animal was identified as a 3m mako shark and was pulled from netting at the south end of the beach on Tuesday morning.
It was dead when found and was taken out to sea and disposed of, a NSW Department of Primary Industries spokesman said.
It comes after three large tiger sharks were removed from the nets at Austinmer beach two weeks ago.
A 3m mako would be one of the larger specimens of the species, which can grow to 3.8-4m. Given its length it would likely have weighed more than 100kg.
The shortfin mako is regarded as the fastest of all sharks.
The picture of the shark aboard the contractors' boat was posted on Facebook where comments described surfers in the area at the time. The shark by that stage was no longer a threat.
Two weeks ago several large sharks drew a large crowd to Bulli as they feasted on the carcass of a whale which had died at sea and been washed up near the rocks.
The carcass was eventually towed out to sea.
