Wagga councillors have decided to continue pressuring the state government to fix the lack of effectiveness of the current code of conduct system.

It comes in response to the general manager Peter Thompson's report at Monday night's meeting on the leaking of confidential information from workshops and meetings.
Mr Thompson said this was not an issue isolated to Wagga, but a problem many local government areas are facing across the state.
Most recently, he said the council had a breach of confidentiality regarding the Lake Albert masterplan, which was "absolute rubbish" leaked to the public under the pretense of fact.

"It is a question of integrity and that's why I didn't recommend training ... because I can't train people to have integrity," he said.
However, Mr Thompson said the state government needs to recognise that the current code of conduct system is not meaningful.
"I think everyone ... would really rather we stop spending money on this thing that's not producing results and either get on with the job or actually have a system that does maintain a particular standard," he said.
