The Wagga Classic Motorcycle Club's 130 members took part in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride on September 27 to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men's mental health.

Club president Mick Powell said the ride was a great way of highlighting those issues and raising money for a good cause.

"Our members are predominately men and older men, shall we stay," Mr Powell said.

"I know of at least three members who have either beaten prostate cancer or are currently being treated it."

Mr Powell said men often brushed off symptoms and avoided seeking treatment for symptoms of physical or mental ill health.

"One of the biggest things about men's general health is they tend to not look after their health, they think they'll be okay," he said.

"We think, 'I'll be okay, we'll be right, I don't need to go to the doctor'."

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride is a way for classic and vintage style motorcycle enthusiasts to raise funds and awareness in partnership with the Movember Foundation.

"Each of our riders who entered made a donation themselves. Then we put it out to family and friends who sponsored us as well," Mr Powell said.

"On top of that our club made a $5000 donation as well."

The Wagga club raised more than $12,000 in what was their first time participating in the event.

"The idea is not to go for a long ride, just for a ride around town. We just went from coffee shop to coffee shop," Mr Powell said.

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride was founded in Sydney by Mark Hawwa, who was inspired by by a photo of Mad Men's dapper Don Draper astride a classic bike while wearing his finest suit.

Mr Hawwa decided a themed ride would be a great way of connecting niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds to support men's health.
