It's been 12 years since Kangaroos won the inaugural Group Nine leaguetag title and heading into their second grand final appearance Shannon Pike remains an important part of their side.

Two kids and a number of years off in between, Pike and her Kangaroos teammates are looking to finish the season on a high.
They've only lost two games all year but both have been to their rivals come Sunday.
It has been a real changing of the guard this season with Young through to their first grand final.
It's also the first time in a decade Brothers aren't a part of grand final day.
Young has taken two tight victories so far this season but Pike is confident Kangaroos can turn the tables at Equex Centre.
"There is a really good feeling in the team," Pike said.
"Our coach Dave (Warburton) is doing an awesome job, we've got lots of young talent.
"If we stick to the game plan I think we will definitely be in a good place to give it to them."
Kangaroos are looking to limit their errors after giving the Cherrypickers plenty of good opportunities to score.
Pike admitted the sport has come a long way since their 2008 success, even if she can't remember all the different rules back then.
"It definitely feels like there is a lot more skill," she said.
"There was lot of talent back then but we're really part of the clubs now, which is really nice.
"The clubs was great when we were getting started but it is good to see it has continued to grow."
The 38-year-old only returned to the club two years after finding the right balance between her sporting endeavours and those of her children.
Even so Saturdays are busy with Pike coaching daughter Torah in the under 8s.
"Once I figured out how it would work I started playing halfway through last season," she said.
Young took a 14-8 win over conditions in horrendous conditions at Alfred Oval in round six before booking their grand final berth with a 10-6 victory in the qualifying final.
Coach Garry Lucas thinks it'll be a new challenge if the rain stays away, with both sides boasting plenty of speed.
"Both games were on a wet track and we're both quick teams and pretty evenly matched so if it's a dry track this weekend it'll be interesting," Lucas said.
"Both games we've won but we've had to come from behind.
With none of the team having senior grand final experience a focus for Young is completing tags and maintaining discipline with the ball.
"t's all about field position," Lucas said.
