The Boiled Lollies are on the hunt for their first top tier premiership since 1976 and standing in their way is none other than arch rivals Waratahs.
After a grand final loss to Waratahs in 2016, their first division title in 2015 is the closest the club has gotten to Southern Inland's top prize in almost four decades.
Coming into the decider undefeated, the club has never been in a better position to take the crown and Blackmore is looking to help it at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday.
"I think the team is in a pretty good spot to have a crack at it so I'm pretty excited for it," Blackmore said.
"It's been a bit up and down since 2016.
"In 2014 and 2015 we were building, we came good in 2016, 2017 we came third, 2018 was a horror and to get there this year has been good.
"It is a shortened year but still being undefeated into a grand final doesn't happen that often."
Blackmore has been at Wagga City for over a decade but his last two seasons have stark opposites.
While the side hasn't lost this season they didn't win a game in 2018.
A serious neck injury saw him sit out last season and he credits a number of new faces coming on board under new coach Ben Schreiber for a big part of the turnaround.
"We've got a new coach and a few new players and Ben has done a really good job of bringing in the right players at the right time and has coached us very well," Blackmore said.
"We also still have that core of eight or nine players who have played a lot of rugby together in the past few years and everything has just clicked for us. We've been alright injury wise and we've just kept turning up and played for each other."
Blackmore had 18 months away from the game with a neck issue but has been pleased with how his body has responded this season.
"My shoulder has been fine all year, which is surprising," Blackmore said. "I had last year off after a pretty serious neck injury and did heaps of physio for it and it has been fine all year."
