The Wagga side ended a record-breaking era for crosstown rivals Brothers with their 14-6 win in the preliminary final at Anzac Park on Sunday.
It is the first time in a decade Brothers will not take their place in the grand final, after winning eight of the last nine grand finals.
Only Gundagai's extra-time success in 2015 disrupted their golden period, which included 74 straight games without a loss.
However it will be a changing of the guard with Young in their first grand final and Kangaroos just their second.
It had been a decade since Kangaroos had scored success against Brothers but their third win over them this season was the sweetest.
Co-captain Gabe Knight was thrilled to make it through to the decider up against undefeated Young.
"It's very nice," Knight said.
"We have gone through the season so well so it is nice to get there."
Kangaroos flew out of the blocks when Naomi Reid crossed after five minutes.
They then extended their lead when Tarnayar Hinch scored after 16 minutes before a try to Sophie Gaynor three minutes later gave Kangaroos a 14-0 lead at the break.
While it would be the last of their points, the result was never in doubt as Tarnii Price crossed for a consolation for Brothers.
Knight was pleased with how the side was able to dictate terms.
"Our first half was obviously better than our second, I don't think we scored any points in the second half," Knight said.
"We not only scored points but completed the next set.
"The last five minutes we had to defend our line but we are pretty happy."
Young are the only team to get the better of Kangaroos so far this season.
They took a 14-8 win in horrible conditions at Alfred Oval in the regular season before backing up the result to take the first grand final berth.
After the 10-6 loss at Twickenham to start the finals series, Knight believes playing consistently could be an advantage for the most important game of the season.
"It was good to play and keep the continuity," she said.
"We didn't have the week off but it was nice to win convincingly and end up there with Young."
Knight is hoping the team can find some more metres against the Cherrypickers after struggling to play with better field territory in both their clashes so far.
"They have had it on us both times now but I think we just have to find our go forward again," she said.
"We got stuck in our own half again last week so we have to manage to get going forward."
