After the club won the Riverina League's wooden spoon in his first season in charge last year, a huge influx of quality locals returning after their leagues were cancelled has transformed Leeton-Whitton into a force again.
They will contest their third grand final in five years after breaking a 39-year flag drought against Collingullie-Glenfield Park in 2017, a year after their rivals this Saturday, Wagga Tigers, edged them by four points in 2016.
"2017 was a big year, but this year is as well I suppose," Muir said.
"It's a completely different season we haven't experienced before, but it's another premiership to try and win.
"Being all locals, bar us Tassie boys who have been here for four or five years anyway it's a pretty big buzz for the town.
"I drove through town this morning and the the shopfront have got all the streamers and team colours up in the windows.
"It's a pretty good feel around the town, everyone has family here which helps and everyone's behind us 100 per cent."
The forward played in the 2017 premiership purely as a player, and believes winning a flag as a coach would bring a different vibe.
He is unsure if he will play again next year for Leeton-Whitton as a he considers a return home to Tasmania for personal reasons after four years at the club.
"For me personally it's a different feel, winning one as a player and now having to worry about getting a kick myself as well as the team's performance," he said.
It's a role I've enjoyed. From a coaching perspective it would be rewarding, but it's more pleasing for me to see how the players have come together and performed.
"I'm not sure if I'm going to play on or retire (next year), I have no idea yet. I'll sit down after this week with the wife and decide what's best.
"This week we'll focus on trying to win a premiership."
Muir said he was looking forward to seeing how a full strength line-up performs after defender Jono Spina and the creative Jayden Lehman (hamstrings) made their return last week.
