Through the first six rounds of the competition Wagga City are yet to taste defeat while they inflicted the only loss on their rivals so far.
Wagga City scored a 47-13 win when the two teams, who can not be replaced in the top two and will play in next month's grand final, last met in round two.
Waratahs co-coach Angus Stevenson believes it will be a great learning experience at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday after winning their last four games.
"With Wagga City you can see how well a team does when they get consistent players week-in week-out and that is something we just haven't had," Stevenson said.
"I think we will be up against it and it will be a really good challenge for us.
"It is very rare you get to play a team two weeks in a row and I think that is something exciting for us.
"The grand final is almost locked in so it is good to play them two weeks in a row and see what we can learn."
Waratahs have been forced to make one change with George Mallat still struggling with a back complaint.
It means Jayden Stanton will move to five-eighth to tackle the team he started the season with.
Harry Morrow also returns for the first time since round one at outside centre.
Stevenson is excited to see what he can bring.
"I think he will be a good addition," he said.
"He's young and enthusiastic and while it is hard to know what he is going to be capable of just yet it will be a really great test for him against City.
"I think he should handle it quite well and it will be great to see how he goes as City have a really good back line."
Waratahs remain without the likes of Charlie Sykes and Joe Mullany as they look to bridge the gap on the ladder leaders.
Meanwhile Tumut and CSU are on the hunt for rare success this season while they face off at Jarrah Oval on Saturday.
The Bulls scored their lone victory for the season when they downed the winless Reddies 22-17 in round two.
