Heavy vehicles and other traffic will be able to cross the bridge on August 26, weather permitting, rather than being diverted through the city.
Wagga City Council stated that the recent wet weather has continued to push back the finish date.
In other news:
The $10.6 million upgrade included the widening and strengthening of the bridge deck, which will lift the load limit to allow any vehicle to travel across in the years to come.
The council said the upgrade will reduce the number of heavy vehicle traffic in the Wagga CBD area and the new route has the potential to save up to 36 minutes on a round trip.
The upgraded bridge is expected to be a key piece of infrastructure for the Wagga High Productivity Freight Route, which will provide better access to the Bomen Industrial Park and connections to the Olympic Highway.
