It has been a tough year for the Crows, who remain winless after 11 rounds but Himmelberg has been one of the shining lights.
Himmelberg played his fifth game of the season on Tuesday night and kicked two of Adelaide's five goals, taking five marks and enjoying 10 disposals in the loss to Collingwood.
It was a performance that drew the praise of former Melbourne champion Garry Lyon on Fox Footy program On The Couch.
"Of course (Adelaide supporters) want to win, I understand that, but they want to see a player that can carry them forward and Himmelberg provided that tonight," Lyon said.
St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt echoed Lyon's comments about Himmelberg.
"He's had some real moments, not just tonight, but since he's come into the team," Riewoldt said.
"I like him. I think he's brave, he draws the footy really well, he marks it at the highest point."
Himmelberg also drew praise internally from Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks after the game.
"There were some passages today where we saw it and it was exciting. I thought Elliott was again, I thought he had another really positive step forward," Nicks said.
"He looked big tonight, he looked dangerous and when he didn't mark it, it was coming to ground."
