The Wagga side couldn't hold on to bring up their second win of the season as Junee scored the last two tries to take a 20-12 victory at Laurie Daley Oval on Saturday.
Captain-coach Hayden Ashcroft it was a tough result for the young side as they looked to for the chance to jump their rivals in the shortened season.
"It's a hard one to swallow," Ashcroft said.
"I say this every week, but I think we are a better side than how we performed.
"I was pretty happy with the improvement from last week in some terms of our game, in terms of controlling the game and kicking well into corners, and we haven't been in a position too often this year where we have had to hold momentum our way.
"A few things didn't go our way and it is hard to get back on top of momentum when things don't go your way.
"The effort was there but it just wasn't our day."

Ashcroft thought the side was beaten through the middle by the bigger Junee forward pack and it's one thing he's looking to improve against one of the competition heavyweights.
However he was pleased with how Kangaroos got themselves out of real trouble with strong kicking games from Jake Mascini and Eddie Jackson.
After a number of reshuffles to the side he was also impressed with how Ned Cooper and Billy Reardon responded in their first taste of the top grade.
