Labor opposition leader Jodi McKay attempted a censure motion against Dominic Perrottet on Tuesday afternoon for "covering up icare's appalling governance" after the insurance agency's chief executive John Nagle resigned over conflict of interest complaints.
Mr Perrottet told Parliament on Tuesday that the actions he took over the complaints "were exactly in line with what a responsible minister should do".
Dr McGirr told The Daily Advertiser he would "listen to the debate" over the censure motion but his "feeling is that it is probably a but premature" and he preferred to wait for the outcome of a parliamentary inquiry.
Mr Nagle resigned on Monday night after appearing at the inquiry, which heard the icare board withheld part of his bonus due to a failure to declare that his wife had a contract with the agency.
Icare's board reports to Mr Perrottet as Treasurer.
Icare's statement in response to Four Corners said it had "worked tirelessly to transform a broken system, from one that treated injured workers as numbers and ignored business, to one that puts them at the heart of decision making".
Dr McGirr last week voted against a separate Labor motion to condemn Mr Perrottet over "recent reports that the Treasurer's agency icare has underpaid 52,000 workers by up to $80 million".

Dr McGirr said "workers' compensation is an extremely important issue" but he did not support the motion as Mr Perrottet had been working to fix the issues at icare.
"Icare has been an issue for many years and I think the Treasurer has made genuine attempts to assist and fix up icare," Dr McGirr said.
"The Treasurer disputed Labor's comments in the [Lower] House in relation to its financial position.
"The motion itself called for the immediate sacking of the executive leadership, which I thought was extreme, and I also thought it was extreme to accuse the Treasurer of covering up what was going on at icare."
