POLICE are searching for missing man Vishneel Karan who was once a well known face around Wagga.
Vishneel Karan, 34, was reported missing after failing to return from bushland on Thursday, sparking a large ground search in West Hoxton.
Police were told Mr Karan was last seen entering bushland around 6pm in Western Sydney Parklands near Moondara Drive, West Hoxton.
Mr Karan used to live in Wagga and work at the Victoria Hotel where he became a friendly face to many. Those who knew him have taken to social media to appeal for any information on his whereabouts.
Wagga Man Kevin Pearce said, while he didn't personally know a lot about Mr Karan, he knew he was well liked in the community.
"Vish is a face known by many locals as a real character in a good way," he said.
"He always seemed very happy, easy going and friendly to everyone."
Police stated they hold grave concerns for Mr Karan's welfare due to existing medical conditions and because he has not contacted family or friends.
Mr Pearce said, while mental illness was not explicitly stated, his own personal experience meant he was also worried for Mr Karan's well being.
"I lost my oldest brother to suicide in 1995, and my youngest brother in 2010 after my mum died in a car accident and dad passed shortly after," he said.
"I hate the thought that Vish may have suicidal thoughts, not that it's mentioned in the report, but I just want him found safe."
In other news:
Mr Karan is described as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, of medium build, with black hair and a dark beard. He was last seen wearing a navy-blue jacket with NYPD on the back, dark blue jeans and white sneakers and was carrying a backpack.

Anyone who has information on Mr Karan's whereabouts, or is able to assist police, is urged to contact Liverpool Police Station on (02) 9765 9499.
