The side-by-side nature of the Equex Centre courts and limits on gatherings saw netball enforce strict regulations including using only 13 of 20 courts, a designated arrival point and 'one-way' flow through to the exit, and limits on spectators, not to mention the endless sanitising of equipment.

But junior manager Laraine Hill said it was well worth it to see the sport being enjoyed again.

"It went well. It was a very long day for the executive to set up from 7am but it was a worthwhile exercise," Hill said.

"The kids loved it. We had a few hiccups with a few extra parents but it was all sorted out and it was a good day, especially watching the little ones' faces.

"Hopefully it continues for the next nine weeks."

The juniors and seniors will all have a nine round competition and then the top two in each division to meet in a grand final on September 19, for all grades from under 10s to A Reserve.

A Grade will be on the following Tuesday night, September 22.
