Unplaced in four Victorian starts, Run Fast Maximus made his race track return in brilliant fashion to take out the Tolland Hotel Maiden (320m).
Run Fast Maximums backed up an impressive trial performance on his new home track, to blitz his rivals in his first race in over six months.
Breeder Clint Colaiacovo was thrilled with the turnaround after buying back into the son of Barcia Bale after a disappointing start to his racing career.
"He's showed a little bit," Colaiacovo said.
"I bred him and he'd been pretty average in his runs in Victoria but after a change of kennel, a bit of time off and a bit of time off he's come out and shown us what he can run.
Run Fast Maximus has put on over four kilograms since his fifth in Healsville in January.
It's just one thing Colaiacovo believes has helped.
"He had a few issues early doors but hopefully he can go on with it," he said.
"There were a few things we had to work on to get him right, one was having a bit more condition on him and he had a few wrist injuries."
Run Fast Maximus ($3.10) clocked 18.44 seconds as he went on to down Sparky's Chance ($2.70 fav) by over five lengths.
It was almost a quinella for the kennel with Sparky's Chance just edging out Serial Stalker.
"Monty let us down as he couldn't run the quinella but he's an alright dog," Colaiacovo said. "He's not in the class of this fella but he's bopping along."
Meanwhile Stuart Dickinson took overall honours on the night, taking out three of the 11 races.
Cawbourne Madox kicked things off as he scored his 10th career win before Cawbourne Ricko and Cawbourne Ringo made the trip worthwhile for the Cawdor trainer.
