The Bulls have been in the past four grand finals, losing the last two to Tumut and Gundagai, and seven of the last nine, but are set to have a very different looking side in 2020.
And potentially usher in a real changing of the guard.
Hayden Jeans has joined Nick Skinner on the sidelines while football manager Matt Ward revealed there are still a number of players unsure about the shortened eight-week competition.
However he ruled out bringing in new faces at this time of the year.
"We're sticking with what we've got," Ward said.
"I don't see the point in signing big names for a nothing year.
"There is no point using our money for that and we don't really have much and I don't think anyone is going to have too much."
Ward is confident the club will have all five grades this season.
However their strength is a concern.
"We should be able to field all grades but probably just won't be as strong as we have in the past," Ward said.
"We're relying on our depth."
The Bulls made early moves to help cover the losses of two of their most influential forwards, with Dana Ratu moving over from Kangaroos and Tyson Hodge returning to his old club.
But depth in the front row is still a concern with Cameron Copeland also moving on.
Cody Hodge is also back and looms as an ideal replacement to the competition's leading tryscorer Jake Dooley, who has moved to Parkes and despite Group 11 not going ahead isn't expected to return.
"If he was still living in Wagga we'd still have a crack," Ward said.
Southcity have enjoyed plenty of recent success but their depth will be put to the test.
Adding to that two young forwards who could have made an impact in Maleke Morris and Rhys Weldon have also linked with Brothers.
Ward remains optimistic.
"We're happy with the depth we've got," he said.
"In first grade the worst we've run is third since 2011 and I think in reserve grade since 2014 the worst we've done is third.
"We've been up there for a while and we'll just do our usual thing of bringing our juniors up while trying to keep the club going."
Southcity start the Group Nine season with a clash against Albury at Greenfield Park on July 19.
After being sent off in the West Wyalong Knockout in February, Tyson Hodge is free to tackle the Thunder.
