Father Plunkett, 92, died earlier this month after decades serving the Wagga and wider Riverina Catholic community.
While coronavirus restrictions prevent a public funeral for the Father Plunkett, the community has been invited to stand in a guard of honour on Friday morning ahead of the popular priest's funeral on June 19.
The funeral cortege will travel down Baylis Street from Edward Street to the council chambers from 8.30am on Friday, with members of the public encouraged to line the street to pay their respects.
The cortege will then do a tribute drive through Settlers Village before a private mass, commencing at 11am at the Sacred Heart Church at Kooringal.
Father Plunkett was instrumental in the building of the church, and served as its priest for over 30 years.
A livestream of the mass will be available on the Alan Harris McDonald website from 11am.
