The 'Mirrool Magician' was at his front-running best as About To Peak ($2.15) took out the TAB Odds & Evens 2YO Maiden Pace (1740m) at just her second start.
The filly ran fifth on debut last week but was better for the run and made the most of an inside draw to lead all the way in a mile rate of 1:58.1.
Maguire bred the filly himself. She is out of his mare, Ottilie Amanda, which made the win that extra bit special.
"It's very satisfying," Maguire said.
"The mare had a lot of abillity, I bred her myself. She was out of a half sister to Albibby Boy and had a lot of speed and ability but had a lot of problems. She was very quick."
Maguire expected About To Peak to be hard to beat this time around.
"She went about how I thought she'd go," he said.
"With the draw I thought she could do what she did. The run that she had at her first start, she looked around a little bit and she's a little bit green but she'd had that experience and I thought that will hold her in good stead for today and it did. She went a fair bit better today."
Maguire will wait under the Victorian border opens up before targeting the Vicbred Super Series. He also believes she will come back a much better three-year-old.
"I'll back off her a little bit. She's paid up for the Vicbred series so once things open up, I'll probably go down there and have a look," he said.
"I think she'll be a nice three-year-old filly, I really do. She was small when she was born and she still needs to develop a fair bit yet. I think she'll be a nice filly next time in."
About To Peak is just one of five pacers Maguire has in work.
He cannot get a run with Wagga Pacers Cup runner up Major Roll so will head to Menangle on Saturday week for a heat of a series that holds a $30,000 final.
Meantime, Paige Bevan enjoyed her second career win in the driving seat when she steered Blissfulday ($10) to victory in the Happy Birthday Norm Diebert Snr NR47 Pace (1740m).
Brett Hogan also produced a top drive to score on Roll Out ($13) in the Sky Racing Active NR55 Pace (1740m).
Rod Woodhouse and Peter McRae went inches within a double. The well-backed Nobby's Clock scored, while Rhianna Reigns finished a close second.
