Carl Little, 28, of Mumford Street, pleaded guilty to a charge of intimidating a police officer in the execution of his duty in Wagga Local Court on Friday.
He was sentenced to 18 months in jail, with a non-parole period of 10 months.
According to facts tendered the court, police had been making "extensive and ongoing" inquiries as to the whereabouts of Little.
On March 30, a post was made to Little's Facebook page, which referred to a Wagga police officer and included the words "I'll be hunting him down instead of him hunting me down if he wants to keep f...... with my family".
Little also sent a copy of the post, with further comments, to the police officer via Facebook Messenger.
When Little was arrested, he admitted writing the Facebook post and sending the message to the police officer because "he was simply fed up with his sisters being harassed by the police," according to the facts.
When Little was arrested on April 1, he made verbal references to the police officer, which were identical in nature to what had been posted previously on Facebook.
Little will be eligible for release on January 31, 2021.
