A host of teams, including South Wagga, Leeton, Young and the National Premier League's Wagga City Wanderers are back on the paddock as officials push toward a planned start date of July 18.
While the NSW government gave the green light for junior sport to resume from July 1, senior sport is still waiting official word on when it can return.
New South Wagga Pascoe Cup coach Andy Heller is taking a laidback approach to the situation after his team began training late last week.
"It seems a bit nonsensical Football NSW or the local administration's trying to come out with when things are coming back, when actually the rules are dictated by the government," he said.
"I just turn up when I'm told to turn up."
Heller said the Warriors are adapting to the COVID-19 restrictions required at training.
"In pre-season we do a lot of pass and move-based training and you following social distancing rules anyway, but It's frustrating when you can't do overloads, or defence against attack, and small-sided games.
"You can't finish the session how you'd want to, but the fitness side and the technical practice anyway (is OK). It's better to do it when you're being challenged in a game realistic scenario, but there's still a lot you can achieve without doing it.
"Ultimately everyone's just pleased to be back at training. It's slightly difficult with the amount of coaches to make sure we fit it (with the rules) all the time, but we're there and thereabouts.
Heller said the club would be happy with whatever season scenario Football Wagga goes with.
"We just want play soccer. Whatever we get (is fine), everyone just wants to play," he said.
Football Wagga president Tony Dobbin confirmed a finals series is on their agenda, and they plan to deliver a season structure to clubs as soon as possible.
"We're meeting as a board later this week to go through all the options suggested and what's the best way forward. We'll put that back to the clubs pretty quickly," he said.
