The three-year-old was a despised $41 outsider in the Graeme Hull Smash Repairs Fifth Grade (400m), but held off a spirited late challenge from the Ben Talbot-trained Barry Mundi by a nose to secure just his second win in 37 starts.
Winsome Logan has only raced a handful of times for Gould since he moved from Talbot's stable. Although wins have been hard to come by, he has also secured 16 minor placings.
"He's been a good dog for me. He's a good honest chaser who has been trying his hardest lately and I didn't think a win was too far away," Gould said.
"I think he's had one win before this one, and it was just about settling into the new kennels.
"I've only taken him on about four starts ago, and just letting him get used to his new surroundings.
"I was fairly confident I could get him winning again pretty quickly.
"He was near the front of the pack and coming down the back straight he had a big enough lead.
"I reckon he can keep going on with it now, I've just kept him going the way Ben was training him."
Another Gould runner We Gotta Million secured second behind Peter Sims' hot $1.33 favourite Pure Project in the GRNSW Masters (400m).
Garry Small also enjoyed a strong meeting with Hardaway Justice taking out the Interior Constructions Free For All (400m) and Keithy Bale winning the Lake Village Butchery Fifth Grade (320m) by two lengths from Talbot's Don't Tell Lindy.
Other winners included Peter Dooner's Got A Cookie in the Ladbrokes Multi Builder Maiden (320m), Talbot's Hard Cash in the Happy Birthday Shannon Ellis Maiden (320m), Dirk Bosman's Spicy Blast in the RSM Audit Tax Consulting Fifth Grade (400m), Colin Bradley's Jousting in the GRNSW Pathways Fifth Grade (320m), Raymond Sim's Ritza Go Boy in the Wagga Tile Centre Fourth/Fifth Grade (320m) and Cherryl Bradley's Raglan Ruby in the Caltex on Fernleigh Fifth Grade (320m).
The next Riverina race meeting is at Temora this Sunday.
