Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong have already resumed training this week, while Wagga Tigers plan to get back on Thursday night.
It comes after AFL NSW-ACT last week gave the green light to clubs to resume training, once the necessary preparation has been completed.
The Lions had been planning for a return to training for some time and were in a position to pull the trigger quickly once the AFL gave the all clear last Thursday.
"We already had our protocols in place," GGGM president Jason Hamblin said.
"We already had three COVID officers, we had the boxes ticked so when they released that we could train, we were able to go bang."
The Lions have already split their squad into Ganmain and Wagga groups, and are alternating nights between the two bases four nights a week.
Hamblin said the return to training was well received.
"All the players have been biting at the bit just to get the opportunity to hit the track," Hamblin said.
"When it was released on Friday there that you were allowed to have footballs involved as well it was a bonus."
Griffith want to get their juniors back first. Their under 15 footballers and netballers were resuming on Tuesday night, at the same time the senior coaching group were meeting to plan their return to training.
Griffith president Jeff Harris expects the Swans seniors to return to training next week, pending ground availability.
There is still no guarantee a season will go ahead, but AFL NSW-ACT remain in discussions with the state government about a return to play plan.
AFL Southern NSW regional manager Marc Geppert is holding a video conference with all clubs this week to update them on the situation.
