Residents had a rude awakening at around 2.30am on Tuesday morning when a car was set ablaze at the end of a suburban cul de sac in Ashmont.

The car was dumped at the end of Grinton Avenue and lit on fire, prompting witnesses to call the emergency services.
Shortly afterwards a crew of four Turvey Park Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters arrived on the scene, and with their combined efforts they managed to douse the fire within fifteen minutes.

Police officers also attended the blaze, and investigations are still continuing into the circumstances surrounding the car fire.
