While a return date is yet to be determined as all sports await direction from the NSW government's Office of Sport, the guidelines showcase the strict protocols players will have to adhere to once indoor sports are given the green light.

Only some courts will be able to be used in smaller stadiums to cater for social distancing, a strict stadium capacity will be set, balls will be sanitised, unnecessary contact including 'high fives' banned and players required to change into their playing gear before arrival.

Basketball Wagga's junior competition coordinator Wade Willoughby said unless sports are allowed to return soon, they may cancel a planned second season and finish their current campaign, which was just a handful of weeks old before it was shut down.

"By no means are we setting a date or coming back any time soon. We're still at a standstill to be honest, and we'll wait and see what happens," Willoughby said.

"It's not too bad at the new stadium because no one is allowed on the court other than players and officials.

"It's going to depend on social distanced and how far you're allowed to be apart.

"We might even just have to finish the season that we've had, just have one season for the year and start afresh next year.

"If it (hiatus) goes for another month it's probably the only option."

Wagga's Southern Junior League representative teams were only able to play one round before the competition was postponed.

"I was hoping training would be back by now for the junior rep players," Willoughby said.

"It's been a nightmare really. I coach the 12 boys and it's been annoying because you put so much work into them.

"We had the one trip to Canberra and that's it, for a lot of them and especially my group it was my first rep season. It was a lot of hard work for nothing really.

"They were going to try and reschedule (the season) but if they do they're going to clash with a lot of other sports, and I'm not sure how it's going to pan out."
