About 12.42 Wednesday morning, Turvey Park Fire and Rescue crews were called to reports of a blaze on Bagley Drive, Moorong.
Station Commander Geoff Edwards said firefighters found a four wheel drive alight.
"A late model, grey Mitsubishi Pajero, otherwise in an immaculate condition, had been dumped near the City Golf Course and set alight," he said.
"Crews spent about 50 minutes extinguishing the fire but the vehicle was totally destroyed."
Police have since taped off the vehicle and are investigating what is believed to be a stolen car.
"It really is such a shame, even if whoever owns the vehicle has insurance, that is still a process now for them in making a claim and finding a new car," Commander Edwards said.
Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Wagga Police Station on 6922 2599, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
