Conducted by Regional Development Australia (RDA) and Charles Sturt University, the skills survey was to be completed by the first week of April. It has already gathered 122 responses.
But, CEO of RDA, Rachel Whiting said the hope was to see "ideally up over 300" response.
"Wagga represents around 32 per cent of all businesses in the Riverina so we would like another 60 to 70 responses from businesses in Wagga alone," Ms Whiting said.

Although plans for the survey have been in the works since late last year, it has been hindered by the unfortunate timing in the middle of a global pandemic.
As a result of the COVID-19 induced economic downturn, the Riverina's joblessness has skyrocketed while immigration has nearly ceased.
\With the survey intended to measure the average yearly needs of the community, it is yet to be seen how the current situation will impact the results, if at all.
