But they will have to wait at least 12 months longer to host their first-ever state carnival with the Masters State Titles to be played elsewhere due to scheduling changes forced by the coronavirus pandemic.
Current NSW public health orders expire on June 30 and, provided they aren't extended, will give netball two-and-a-half weeks to ensure registrations and team nominations are in place before a return to the courts.
"We've got our fingers crossed. We're not sure how it's going to work, but that's what we're looking at," Wagga Netball president Rosemary Clarke said.
From our perspective we're looking at getting in at least ten weeks of netball by the end of the school term, before they run into the next sports season.
"A lot of rep players may have been doing some small training sessions at home, but I don't think our run-of-the mill girls have done anything.
"Just getting them used to being back together socially is going to be the important part for them initially.
"We might have to start earlier and finish a bit later so we've got less people down there in each time slot (to adhere to social distancing)."
Wagga initially won the right to host the Masters State Titles and Netball NSW Social Masters in mid-October. But they will now be held alongside the open titles, meaning the city won't have the necessary courts to accommodate the carnival.
However, they have been assured by Netball NSW they will still hold the event sometime in the near future.
"To run that sort of competition we're probably looking at 30-odd courts, not many associations can do that," Clarke said.
"However we've had information that we'll be able to host (in the future) so we're not too concerned, it gives us an extra 12 months at least to get ready.
"We don't even know where this year's state championships are going to be held at the moment, but we know we've put in and been successful and we'll have a masters championships at some point.
"What year that is, we'll wait to hear from Netball NSW."
