A "surprisingly" high number of drink drivers were busted during "Operation Chrome", with seven mid-range, one high-range, and one cocaine possession discovered over the course of 284 random breath tests.
Inspector Aichinger said he had not expected to see so many drink drivers on the roads, especially with NSW being in a state of lockdown.
"Considering we're under the current restrictions in regards to covid-19, it's a bit surprising to have that many drink drivers," Inspector Aichinger said.
None of the drink drivers were charged with breaking coronavirus quarantine, however Inspector Aichinger said repeat offenders could expect to receive a $1000 fine.
"All people are entitled to a warning first and we record all those warnings," he said.
Over the weekend Wagga police also arrested 10 people after they tested positive to a drug test, and they wrote a total of 35 infringement notices for various other offences.
