Mr Gerhardy yesterday celebrated two decades at the Co-op, where he started out in 1999 as a 19-year-old on work experience.
"It feels awesome. I've had calls and text messages. My old boss rang me up," he said.
"It's amazing. It feels like I just started"
He has fond memories of his early days at the Co-op, which provides supplies to farmers in the region.
"You normally did [work experience] for 10 weeks but they put me on for 12 months," he said.
"And then [the boss] rang me up in April and said you start on May 1. And it happened to be Dad's birthday too. So happy birthday Dad."
Mr Gerhardy has worn a few different hats during his 20 years at the Co-op and is now working in the warehouse.
He also helps run the drive through for customers buying stock feed and other products.
"I normally do everything. I'm a pretty busy man," he said.
"I used to work inside but I'm more out the back now. I love working with people."
Mr Gerhardy, who is a die-hard Canberra Raiders fan, lost many of his prized possessions when a fire destroyed his family's Lake Albert home in March.
"It was heartbreaking, devastating. I don't normally show my tears but I actually did cry," he said.
The family has since bought a new home and Mr Gerhardy is optimistic about the future, which could include another 20 years at the Co-op.
"I might be on the walking stick by then but I hope I'll still be working," he said.
"I like to break records."
