The number of coronavirus cases in the Riverina has remained at 45 since Friday, April 17. A man in his 60s, who initially returned a "low positive" result was eliminated by further testing on Monday.
A spokesperson for the Murrumbidgee Local Health District said local health officials supported the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian's goal of increased testing.
"Testing is more important than ever with the gradual relaxing of social distancing. A low transmission rate is a prerequisite before we can start to return to normal," the spokesperson said.
In a bid to assist people in accessing testing in rural areas, the MLHD is launching a new mobile clinic on May 4. The mobile service is being designed to support the testing service to respond quickly to any hotspots which may occur.
Most common symptoms include fever and dry cough. Some people also experience sore throat, shortness of breath, or runny or stuffy nose. Anyone who believes they may have contracted the COVID-19 virus should call the Murrumbidgee COVID-19 hotline on 1800 831 099 - which is open every day between 7am and 9pm - for a confidential over the phone assessment.
