One of the men faced court today charged over his alleged involvement in last Tuesday's robbery, which a senior Wagga police officer described as "traumatic" for the cabbie involved.
Wagga Police Inspector Adrian Telfer said investigators arrested Jai Coe, 19, after he was found hiding in the bathroom of a Tolland home at 9.20am Tuesday.
"CCTV was a major component of the investigation and detectives made a number of inquiries which, after a few days, led officers to locate the man who was arrested at an address on Bruce Street," Inspector Telfer said.
Mr Coe was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with a person in it while armed with a weapon.
He appeared in Wagga Local Court today via video link from Wagga Base Hospital, where he was under police guard while being treated for a pre-existing medical condition.
Magistrate Christopher Halburd refused bail and the matter returns to court on June 19.
Earlier, investigators arrested Robert Cambell-Betts, 20, at a Mount Austin home on Thursday.
Police allege Mr Coe and Mr Cambell-Betts were picked up by a taxi in Tolland about 9pm on April 21.
The pair are accused of directing the driver to stop at a bus stop in Mount Austin, where they produced knives and demanded cash and a mobile phone from the driver before telling him to get out of the vehicle.
Police said the men then stole the taxi before abandoning it in Turvey Park.
The driver was not physically injured.
"This was a fairly traumatic robbery," Inspector Telfer said. "Both are facing extremely serious allegations."
Mr Cambell-Betts was charged with aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with a person in it while armed with weapon, robbery armed with offensive weapon and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.
He was refused bail on Friday and also returns to court on June 19.
