A smaller crowd than usual gathered on Saturday morning at the Victory Memorial Gardens cenotaph, laying bright floral wreaths to remember Australians who have served and given their lives in conflict.
Representatives from Wagga's RSL, League Club, Laurel Club and the Riverina Light Horse Troop were there to commemorate the day, along with some local dog walkers who arrived with an armful of homegrown roses.
Wagga RSL president David Gardiner was there to lay wreaths on behalf of both his sub-branch and Wagga City Council.
"It's so important to remember the people who have served the country and keep us free as we are today," Mr Gardiner said.
Mr Gardiner, who served in the Australian Army in Vietnam in the late 1960s, said this year's Anzac day was "very different".
"It's still [about] being able to pay our respects to the soldiers who have gone on before us and are still serving. We wish every veteran in Wagga today and all throughout Australia all the very best," he said.
