The Griffith shopper did not register the ticket, so officials were unable to contact the winner and instead had to wait for the winner to come forward and claim the prize.
The winning entry was purchased at Griffin Plaza Newsagency in Griffith.
Owner Manjit Lally said he was glad the winner had come forward in time for the weekend.
"We wish them all the best and hope they enjoy their prize," Mr Lally said.
"Hopefully we can sell more major prize winning tickets soon. It's always wonderful news hearing about a winner in the region."
