Turvey Park Fire and Rescue crews arrived at a house fire on Tobruk Street in Ashmont at 6.25pm.
Several rooms of the house were damaged.
At 10.48pm crews arrived at the scene of the second house fire, on Northcott Parade in Mount Austin.
Several rooms of the house were affected, but the fire did not get into the roof.
It took crews about two hours to extinguish the flames at both houses.
The causes of both fires are under police investigation.
