Wednesday saw standard unleaded at 99.5 cents per litre at United Turvey Park and Westside Petroleum Wagga Wagga and Mount Austin, while Shell Tolland dipped just under the dollar at 99.9 cents.
NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury said the average price of petrol in Wagga had dropped by 25 cents in the past five weeks, it was still well over the dollar at 117.8 cents.
"To have an average of 117 is still pretty high, having said that Wagga's still doing better than a lot of other regional areas," he said.
Mr Khoury said some service stations were delaying passing on the price falls amid a 20-year low in oil prices as demand dries up through the coronavirus outbreak.
He said Wagga outlets still offering far higher prices were driving the average up.
"There's still pretty big gaps and we want to see those servos that are holding up the average to start to come down more," he said.
He said there was still plenty of room for prices to drop and while the coronavirus pandemic continues, a low chance of the cost coming back up any time soon.
"We should start to see more of those service stations come in line with the dollar mark so you should see that average price continue to fall," he said.
"Probably as long as the crisis continues you'll see these sorts of prices."
