A new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Cootamundra-Gundagai local government area, taking the total number of cases in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District to 43.
A total of 2364 people have been tested in the region.
There had not been a confirmed new case since Saturday, April 4, when two positive tests in Berrigan shire were returned.
There are now 20 recovered cases in the Murrumbidgee, and currently no hospitalisations.
Of the 10 cases diagnosed in the Wagga local government area, five are now classified as recovered.
Lenert Bruce, the executive director of medical services for the MLHD, told a press conference on Thursday that the recovered cases were confirmed only after the patients returned negative results for coronavirus in follow-up testing.
- Those suffering acute, cold, flu-like symptoms who have recently returned from travelling or are a contact of a confirmed case are urged to be tested for the virus. To do this, call HealthDirect on 1800 022 222 to be triaged and advised by a nurse over the phone. Alternatively, contact your GP to book an appointment and let them know in advance if you have symptoms - these might include fever, cough, runny nose or shortness of breath.
