Zoffany's Lad has been given 63 kilograms after a last start metropolitan victory at Rosehill on March 14, but Ible feels the five-year-old is well placed back in country grade with the lightest weighted horses to carry 55 kilograms.

"He is deserving of the weight and now the minimum is 55 kilograms for some of the others he looks well placed," he said.

Zoffany's Lad was having his first start for Ible when he provided the 30-year-old with his first Saturday metropolitan winner.

The race was also the trainer's first start with Zoffany's Lad for Grand Syndications and he has a Wagga Cup in mind for the winner of seven races.

Ible only had Zoffany's Lad for a few weeks before he held on to win over 1900 metres on a soft track.

Many factors are falling into place for Zoffany's Lad heading into the Gundagai and Wagga Cups and Ible is excited to have a horse with a touch of class going into both races.

"He is a better quality horse, easy to work with and he came to me in great shape," Ible said.

"He is well up to win the Gundagai Cup with the weight. He has wet track form, won last start on a slow track and has been placed on heavy ground."

Zoffany's Lad, who will be ridden by Canberra jockey Simon Miller, will start from barrier nine over the 1800 metres.

"He is my first Gundagai Cup runner and all going well he will go on to the Wagga Cup," Ible said.

"I grew up in Wagga and attended University there and would love to have a runner in the Cup.

"The Wagga Cup is the number one race I want to win as a trainer and all going well after Gundagai that is where the horse will start."

Bezos has won his past two starts in restricted grade after finishing midfield in the Southern District Country Championships qualifier, while Great Glen is always competitive in these type of races. The gelding ran third in the Albury Cup and was fourth at Wagga last start.

Great Glen will be looking to provide trainer Todd Smart with a win in his hometown cup.

Last year's Gundagai Cup was one for the outsiders with the first four horses to finish starting at double figure odds and the odds on favourite only beating a few rivals home.

Last year's winning jockey, Josh Richards, on Class Clown will on Sunday ride rank outsider Monkery for Gundagai trainer David Blundell.
